Our Principles and Standard of Practice Statement:

Each and every individual who comes into contact with this program is treated with courtesy, respect, and dignity. This includes: clients such as victim/survivors, their friends and families, and other types of service-users; volunteer advocates; educators; co-workers; supervisors; board members; people with whom we share space and resources; collaborators; representatives of institutions; agencies and organizations; and the general public.

We exist to serve victim/survivors of sexual violence and exploitation, and the communities for whom, and to whom, we are responsible for providing education and raising awareness about violence, victimization, and abuse. Therefore, it is our first and foremost duty to serve them, not ourselves, in all we do.

We have a duty to continually learn more about violence, victimization, victims, perpetrators, and dynamics of abuse, and to disseminate that information to others.

It is not enough to say that we are “cutting edge,” “exemplary,” “state of the art,” or “leaders.” Such distinctions are earned through substance: quality; on-going performance; attention to detail; honoring commitments; constant improvement; achievement; and a re-commitment of ourselves to those we serve. It is enough when other people say that, and continue to say that, about us.
